From New Hire to Confident Steelworker in 90 Days
Artisan Learning partnered with The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) to develop authentic video-based e-learning modules for employees at steel fabrication companies to become successful–fast.
The result is an award-winning series of documentary-style video modules that follow new hires as they learn the skills and mindsets of successful general laborers, welders, and fitters. Punctuating the videos are knowledge checks that imitate the actions employees must take on the job. This module follows one of the trainees, Maria, as she learns to use a grinder.
This module is available through February 14, 2026 as supplemental material to Artisan Learning’s presentation at the 2025 DevLearn Conference.
AISC worked with Artisan Learning to create this video to help promote structural steel fabrication as a career. It is used at recruiting fairs, in high schools and trade schools, and on social media.
